inaugurates Sports Summer Camp for Kids

Shri Narendra A. Patil, Divisional Railway Manager & President, SCR Sports Association, Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway declared open the Sports Summer Camp for children at the Railway Mini Stadium, Vijayawada today i.e., 8th May, 2024. The camp is being organized by the Vijayawada Division Railway Sports Association and it aims to promote physical fitness and teamwork among children.

The summer camp will run from 8th May to 8th June, 2024. The camp will feature coaching in cricket, football, volleyball, and athletics for children. For Railway Official’s wards the nominal fees is Rs.500 and for others it is Rs.1000 for the month long camp. Over 42 children enrolled in various sports and activities. The discount for Railway wards is being provided by SCRWWO, Vijayawada.

At the outset, Shri Valleswara B Thokala, Sr. Divisional Security Commissioner & Divisional Sports Officer, Vijayawada Division, SCR welcomed Shri Narendra A. Patil, DRM, the children participating in the camp and other officials to the inaugural ceremony. He said that the Division wants the children to have a good time during the holidays while being focused on their physical health too.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Narendra A. Patil, DRM said that Indian Railways is committed to promoting sports and physical fitness among children. The DRM stated that this summer camp is a great opportunity for kids to learn new skills, make friends, and develop a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized the importance of sports in character building and encouraged children to work hard and have fun. He also said that the children who participate in various sports camps develop penchant for various sporting disciplines at a very young age and ultimately result in good health and fitness in the long run. He wants the children to take this first step towards a life-long commitment of good health through participation in this summer camp. He wished them luck and good times.

Shri Narendra A. Patil, DRM interacted with the kids, sports coaches of the summer camp and distributed chocolates to the children on the occasion. He appealed to the staff to utilize this opportunity being provided by the Division. DRM also inaugurated the football court for kids in the Railway Stadium on the occasion.

Shri Prasantha Kumar, Sr.Divisional Safety Officer; Shri K Sridhar, Divisional Engineer (East); Shri Sharat Chandra, Sports Inspector, 50 Children and Staff took part in the inaugural Programme of the Summer Camp.
