In 1974, Ramoji Rao founded the Eenadu daily in Visakhapatnam, which revolutionized the newspaper industry in Andhra Pradesh, which was then a single entity. With multiple versions, it continues to be the most widely read Telugu daily. Eenadu set a standard by regularly reaching readers before daybreak under Rao’s leadership. Ramoji Rao was well-known for his dedication to punctuality.
One of the most significant moments in Ramoji Rao’s life was the newspaper’s crusade ‘to restore democracy’ when TDP founder N T Rama Rao was overthrown in a bloodless coup that resulted in NTR taking power again.
Ramoji Rao transformed Telugu media, and his passing is being mourned by the film industry, the film fraternity, and a number of politicians. To allow visitors to pay their final respects, Ramoji Rao’s mortal remains were moved to his home in Ramoji Film City.
