Leading precision engineering and manufacturing company AZAD Engineering Limited has been awarded a prestigious contract to serve as a production agency by GTRE (Gas Turbine Research Establishment), a renowned R&D organisation under DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation), and the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The full production and assembly of an advanced gas turbine engine—essential for defence applications—is covered under the long-term contract. By early 2026, AZAD will begin delivering the first batch of fully integrated engines.

A fixed exit area nozzle, an annular combustor, a single-stage axial flow uncooled turbine, and a 4-stage axial flow compressor are some of the parts that make up the Advanced Gas Turbine Engine’s single-spool turbojet configuration. The Chairman and CEO of AZAD Engineering, Rakesh Chopdar, acknowledged his delight about this significant achievement by saying, “We are thrilled to have been chosen by GTRE for this esteemed contract and can’t wait to implement this innovative design at our Hyderabad facilities. We have now expanded our manufacturing capabilities to provide end-to-end production for a fully assembled Advanced Turbo Engine, from Power, Aviation, Defence, and Oil & Gas. This presents a huge opportunity to build a complete propulsion system for the country’s and the world’s defence requirements. The company’s products include 3D rotating airfoil/blade portions of turbine engines and other essential parts for (a) thermal, nuclear and gas turbines used in energy generation or industrial applications, and (b) spacecraft and military and aviation aircraft. One of a turbine’s most important fixed and rotating 3D rotational components in the compression section is the airfoil or blade.
