Under the ‘Dharma Productions’ banner, renowned producer ‘Karan Johar’s film “Kill “has made waves by breaking box office records and creating a sensation. The Hollywood remake rights of this much-talked-about film have been acquired by Lionsgate and 87 Eleven Entertainment, with Chad Stahelski set to direct it in Hollywood. Given the immense hype surrounding the film, there has been a massive demand for its remake rights. Interestingly, for the first time, not just Tollywood but the entire South Indian film industry is competing to acquire the remake rights of this movie.
In Tollywood, several directors and producers have been stationed in Mumbai for the past few weeks, trying to secure these rights at any cost. Prominently, ‘Khiladi’ Director Ramesh Varma and Producer KL Satyanarayana Chaudhary are leading the race. Additionally, Director Surender Reddy and Producer ‘Ram Talluri ‘have also been camped in Mumbai for some time with the same goal. It is heard that Director Harish Shankar, under the People’s Media banner, as well as Suresh Babu, Bobby, and Maitri Movies, are using their influence to grab the ‘Kill” remake rights.
From the Tamil industry, actors ‘Dhanush’ and ‘Suriya’ have expressed interest in starring in the remake. Reports suggest that Karan Johar is quoting a high price for the rights. There are also rumors that Karan Johar might even remake the film himself in the South. With unprecedented competition for the rights to this film, it remains to be seen who will ultimately secure them.
