For movie fans, the first half of 2024’s Kollywood releases has been amazing since it has brought together a mix of mainstream and indie films. The distributors, theatre owners, and trade circles are all quite happy with the recent successes in the film industry. However, Vijay Sethupathi’s “Maharaja” is perhaps the biggest cause for celebration, having brought in a whopping 105CR+ at the box office. Despite the introduction of big-budget Pan-Indian movies, the movie is still doing well in a lot of theatres. Additionally, the movie has had a fantastic reception from abroad and in non-Tamil-speaking regions.

Maharaja has given a new lease of confidence that film enthusiasts are always ready to welcome and appreciate content-driven movies. It’s great to see that Tamil cinema has produced a lot of succesful movies in the first six months of 2024, and we are glad that Maharaja has clasped a top position. I am grateful to industry friends, who selflessly spread positive words about the project, and finally, the loveable audiences, who have now instilled great responsibility to produce more such movies that emphasize strong content and I also take this oppurtinity to wish the very best to all the forth coming releases.
