Released in 1981, the English-language film was directed by Bengali actress Aparna Sen and produced by Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor. Jennifer Kendal is playing the role of Shashi Kapoor’s wife in the film. Transformation of an impression into an expression is the definition of cinema. Aparna Sen is the daughter of renowned film critic Chitanand Dasgupta. With “36 Chowringhee Line,” Aparnasen made a woman as a protagonist and showed the world the work of women directors with stories and stories. The 3 dimensions of the characters, their limitations, and most importantly the way the Anglo-Indian family system is depicted is commendable. In a word, it is a film that tells the struggle for the life of Anglo-Indian descent abandoned by white people. When two countries in the world are separated, when two cultures are separated, there are some ambiguous situations, in those ambiguous situations, not being British, not being fully Indian, the situation of a middle-class Anglo-Indian woman is seen in the eyes of 36 Chowringhee line and the successful film, which introduced four characters. Every piece of art needs a physical medium. The words for the creation of literature, the melody for the creation of music, the tempo for the dance, if these are works of art, otherwise it remains a human creation.
