Joseph Campbell is not only a screenplay writer but also a great philosopher. He visited India many times to explore the roots of Indian history and mythology. No one else has explored still now, like Campbell. Who, vigorously studied  comparative mythology and comparative religion.Campbell defined writing in his own way!! that narration  is a collection of images and  human experience related to particular time with cluster of metaphors. “Campbell’s most famous work “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” (1949), which is inspired by the  Indian mythology. In it, he formulated theory of Hero, which he named “Monomyth”. “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” Since its publication, Campbell’s theories have influenced a wide variety of modern writers and artists. His philosophy “follow your bliss” has influenced the world. George Lucas introduced him to the Hollywood  as a screenplay writer through Star Wars A section of intellectuals criticized his views on mythology, popular culture, and folklore, but he never  cared at all.                                                                                                                             He believed that half the World ,people are religious and they trust that narrations are  facts and they are  called as theists. The other half know that narrations are not facts They are atheists. The ultimate mystery of life, he called transcendental reality, cannot be captured in images. Mythological metaphors, on the other hand, refer to reality outside. They are what Campbell calls “being statements.” Rituals can provide participants with that ultimate mystery as an experience. Mythology  first task is? is to reconcile the waking consciousness with this universe.mysterium tremendum et fascinans.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            By-Prakash Surya.
